| General Overview
The
Miami Beach Community Development Corporation First
Time Home Buyer Assistance Program provides training, counseling,
and financing to assist qualified home buyers in the purchase
of property to be used as their principle residence. The
program is administered by MBCDC and is funded by the City
of Miami Beach, Miami-Dade County, the State of Florida and
the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The
organization has been designated as a Community Housing development
Organization by the City of Miami Beach and Miami-Dade County.
This
program is available to families that earn no more
then 80% of the Miami-Dade County median income level adjusted
for family size. Additional assistance may be available to
very low income families, earning less then 50% of median
income.
Applicants
must demonstrate steady employment or other means
of stable income as well as an acceptable credit history.
They must be first time home buyers purchasing the property
as a principal residence. Applicants will be considered first
time home buyers if they have not owned a home during the
three year period prior to participation in this program.
Special exceptions enable participation in the program by
displaced homemakers and single parents. MBCDC provides housing
counseling to prospective first time home buyers to prepare
them for the acquisition and ownership of their first home.
Eligible
properties include studios, one, two, or three
bedroom single family homes, condominium units and attached
town houses located within the City of Miami Beach. Properties
are inspected by government funding agencies to assure they
meet structural and other applicable housing standards. MBCDC
will undertake to rehabilitate the property to comply with
the standard requirements of the funding sources. The contract
purchase price to be paid by the applicant may not exceed
the property appraisal.
